CCTV REGULARLY ASKED QUESTIONS
QUESTION: What is an AV Channel, and where can I find it?
A: The AV channel is a connection socket located at the rear of a television set or video recorder. It is the means by which equipment can be connected to each other by using a Scart lead eg., a television connected to a video recorder.
QUESTION: Can I add another camera to my kit?
A: Generally, the answer is no. Micromark sell a variety of CCTV kits which are complete in themselves. However, expanding a smaller system may be possible if a 4 camera controller is used.
QUESTION: Can I swap a black & white camera for a colour one?
A: No - the power supply works on a different voltage for each type of camera
QUESTION: Can cameras see at night?
A: Cameras can operate in relatively low light (or Lux) although the picture may start to deteriorate. They would require some external lighting for a clear picture - the more light the better the picture received.
QUESTION: Can you video tape from the camera?
A: Yes, you can tape from any of the cameras as long as they are connected to a video recorder.
QUESTION: Will a camera provide a picture through glass?
A: The camera is able to view through glass, however it is not recommended. The PIR on the camera will not operate through glass as it requires direct line of sight movement to trigger the camera.
QUESTION: Does Micromark sell separate PIR sensors?
A: No
QUESTION: Are the cameras weatherproof?
A: Yes, all the cameras are weatherproof, although it should be noted (from the installation instructions) that there are guidelines for positioning the cameras to obtain optimum picture reception.
QUESTION: Does the camera light up to show it is operating?
A: The black & white cameras do not have an indicator light to show it is operating, however the colour cameras do have this facility.
QUESTION: Can you have a longer range PIR?
A: The cameras with PIRs have a range of 4-6 Metres, however this range can be extended to 8 Metres by Micromark engineers, at a small cost.
