18-Nov-2008 TheDufster: 1) Can I add a fifth camera to this package? 2) If viewing from a TV that is in a different room to the DVR how is the footage from each camera displayed on the screen? Is it possible to see all 5 cameras at once or does the picture alternate between each camera?

sajidH: If you require 5 camera's, please see the 8 camera DVR section. You will be able to see all 5 cameras on one screen and there are different options for adjusting the windows for viewing. By using a T-splitter you can split the signal to 2 or more TV's or monitors. Please call the sales team and they will be more than happy to run through the options with you.

12-Dec-2008 Ed: Hello is there a function that will only start recording when there is a reason too for example rather than coming home and having to check through the whole day to see if anyone has been there can i choose to only start recording or monitoring when movement is detected similar to a pir spotlight that only comes on when someone or something moves? If not is there anything that can be done or another system that will allow me to have this function, i wouldn't mind if it records all day if there was a way to quickly see only the bits that detected movement? hope that all makes sense. Many thanks.

sajidH: Yes, the DVR in this package can be set up so it will only record when it detects motion from one of the camera's. This can be individually set on each camera. There is also a useful feature which allows you to block out certain parts of the frame to reduce false triggers, eg if within the camera frame there is a road, or tree's.

17-May-2009 Dave: "Web surveillance supports up to 5 online users synchronously" - does that mean if the DVR is networked and all the other network settings (e.g fixed IP, Firewall access) are in place to access the site from the internet, the DVR images can be viewed over the internet?

mark h: Yes, it can be.

6-Dec-2009 Swoods: A lot of the bundles state "Use your own monitor with a scart input" does this mean they won't work with an LCD Monitor.

mark h: It means that the package includes the relevant connections and cables to connect to a monitor or TV of any type with a SCART input. If you would prefer to connect by composite, BNC or VGA you would need additional connections which we could also supply.

23-Jun-2010 dee: what is the tvl resolution of the cameras? and will it email images to a mobile phone if movement is activated? thanks

mark h: The cameras on this package are the TP-100WIR-C which are listed separately on site and they are 420TVL. This DVR can be set up to email an image on motion detection

Main Product Comments, Questions and Answers

2-Mar-2009 glenn: Hi, is there any sort of zoom/enhance feature built in to this recorder?

mark h: You can magnify the image by a power of two, but this isn't technically a zoom as its just focusing in on the image and making it larger. The effectiveness of this will depend on the quality of the camera you are using. A camera with a high TVL will be best.

23-Jun-2010 Raj: Pentaplex allows the DVR to record more than one camera at once. This DVR does not support this right? So how does it decide which camera output to record in the event of motion on both? Does it have the facility to record on motion only rather than continious? Also, can it FTP video to server aswell as jpeg's? Regards

mark h: Pentaplex refers to the fact that you can Record and playback simultaneously. This DVR as with all the DVR's we sell supports this. All 4 cameras can be recorded and viewed simultaneously. It has motion detection and It can also be set up to FTP Images to email

30-Jun-2010 Raj: does this DVR require a SATA or IDE hard drive?

mark h: Its IDE, however we can supply it with an Avtech SATA convertor if required

8-Jul-2009 Remy D: Can a dvd rewriter be fitted to this unit.

David J: No, a DVD rewriter can not be fitted to this unit

16-Feb-2009 glenn: Could you give some idea of how long on 'continuous record' a 250GB , and for comparison a 500GB HDD would record (in days/hours?) many thanks

mark h: Unfortunately there are too many variables to provide an exact figure - The number of cameras, FPS, Camera TVL. However, with 4 cameras running at 100FPS on Best Quality, a 250gb would be around 9 days, 500gb 18days.

16-Nov-2008 lawrencezarb: Can the HDD be configured for continous recording, ie when the HDD is full, the unit will "roll-over" and overwrite on the HDD.

sajidH: Providing the DVR is set to continuous recording it will do.
